The Starkey Family 5-2013

Thirteen years ago, Katja Starkey visited Sierra Leone. During her visit there, she had a meaningful conversation with an amputee. Pointing to the stump of his arm near his shoulder, he said, “This is not our greatest pain. Our greatest pain is in our hearts. We feel forgotten by the world. By coming, you help to heal that pain.” Katja has desired to go back to Sierra Leone and minister to the forgotten for over a decade now.

We are excited to report that Jonathan, Katja and Gadisa Starkey will be traveling to Sierra Leone this fall to visit Samuel & Mariama Menyongar, as well as the many people and projects connected to Touch the Nations.

If anyone would like to contribute support specifically for airfare and expenses on this trip, we would be deeply grateful. Please notify us if that is where you would like your donation to be directed. General funds not specifically earmarked for this trip will continue to be invested in orphan and widow support, etc.

In addition, the Menyongars are requesting that we bring the following items with us:

  • Pens
  • Neckties
  • Computer bag
  • Ink cartridges
  • A portable printer from Walmart HP Deskjet 3510 or any one that is available which can print, copy and scan (approximate cost $60)

Please contact Katja at kstarkey@touchthenations.com if you are interested in providing any of these items.

Many thanks!
